What is Reiki?

Definition

From the Japanese words “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life energy), Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. Reiki practitioners use their hands to deliver energy to your body, improving the flow and balance of your energy to support healing.

History

Using gentle touch to help someone feel better is instinctive and has been around since the very beginning of time; however, it was a Japanese man by the name of Mikao Usui who developed Reiki in the early 1900’s. Usui Reiki spread to the West in 1935. Currently, more than a million Americans have tried Reiki, and it is now available in more than 60 hospitals and offered as an educational program in more than 800. With a focus on healing, Reiki Plus More offers the ultimate rejuvenation of mind and body delivered in this time-honored approach to unlocking the body’s natural healing systems.
